AboutThis is the beginning of the Barefoot Notes from XML Geek. About Me and this Blog: This is an experiment - one, its strictly hand coded. Two, there is no advertising, three, its just me. Stuff that I do, stuff that I know and stuff I don't want to forget. Me - well, I am Lisa Seaburg, born and raised in Darien, Connecticut. Now living in the heart of Dixie in the fine state of Mississippi about 30 minutes south of Memphis, TN. I have considered changing my last name to Sjoberg, that is my family name from Sweden. But would anybody be able to pronounce it? Probably not. I started working in SGML in 1988 when I went to work for Grolier Encyclopedia as a contractor. I was very lucky that one of my managers noticed I like to learn and that I wanted to learn. I was sent along with my fellow Grolier staff members to Xyvision, a company up in Wakefield, Mass for training. I started to learn SGML. The rest, as they say, is history. I have grown up with the technology, learning on the way. Today's students are learning on a level that my generation never had the chance. They are weaned with a mobile phone in their ear, they are building apps and playing with hardware like it was lego blocks. I am excited about this, I know I need a cadre of young smart people in my company. They are the next generation, they are the ones to take things from here. |
